Figure 8 - Mutator-mediated, adaptively responsive hypermutation in Aspergillus cultured under an increased-temperature stress.  Each of several colonies cultured under increased temperature  stress  responsively produced through a karyotypic-mutator system many mutant, yellow sectors that were adaptive to the high temperature stress. They were adaptive by being of increased growth rate, having greatly increased spore production and being of improved, flat morphology (Lieber, 1972, Ph.D Thesis).
